What is the Beacon v3.0? The Beacon v3.0 is a product that allows you to stream RTK corrections via Bluetooth Technology without the need for extra cables. This device is compatible with most SMART devices including Android and iOS devices.

How does it work? Simply plug the Beacon v3.0 into your receiver, download your compatible NTRIP app onto your SMART device, pair or connect the Beacon to your SMART device, enter your user name and password information supplied by your local retailer onto the app and hit Start. Within seconds you will be streaming RTK data directly to your receiver; it’s that simple!

How tough is it? Thoughtful consideration has been given to ensure the Beacon is rugged for field use. The housing is UV resistant and weatherproof. While every consideration was made to ensure the device doesn’t fail, this is an electronic device and things do happen.

Do you stand behind your product? We offer a Limited Warranty. This product is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Within this period, GRTech will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components that fail in normal use. Such repairs or replacement will be made at no charge to the customer for parts or labor, provided that the customer shall be responsible for any transportation cost. This warranty does not apply to: (i) cosmetic damage, such as scratches, nicks and dents; (ii) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, water, flood, fire, or other acts of nature or external causes; (iii) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not an authorized service provider of GRTech; or (iv) damage to a product that has been modified or altered without the written permission of GRTech. In addition, GRTech reserves the right to refuse warranty claims against products or services that are obtained and/or used in contravention of the laws of any country. This product is intended to be used only for agricultural and industrial use. Use in any other application is strictly prohibited. Due to outside factors, GRTech makes no warranty as to the accuracy of this product.

Why is this better than other options? The biggest advantage to the Beacon v3.0 is that you can use a device that you already own and may already be paying a data plan on. There is no need to purchase expensive Radios or Base Stations. SMART devices are becoming standard equipment in many tractors as a means of planter monitoring, fertilizer blockage, auger cart scales, and more. All a farmer needs is the SMART device with data plan, Beacon v3.0, active RTK subscription, and an RTK unlocked GPS receiver and you now have a very inexpensive source of RTK.

Does my receiver need to be enabled for RTK? Yes. The Beacon is no different than using radio RTK.

How much data should I expect to use? The average usage ranges between 400‐600 MB per month. If you are running around the clock you may use just over one Gigabyte.

Can I use my phone? Yes, however you should have a dedicated device for the Beacon to avoid conflict with voice overriding data.

What happens when I lose cellular service? Most brands have a form of RTK extend that will usually provide 10‐20 minutes of run time without RTK corrections. This will result in slightly less accuracy for that period of time.

How much work is it to install? Installing the Beacon requires very little time for installation. Simply plug the Beacon into your receiver, download the app, connect your devices and hit Start.

Are cables required for install? In most situations No.
